Winters in Ireland are becoming increasingly tough on cars and their drivers, with freezing temperatures, poor visibility, surprise potholes, heavy rain, fallen leaves, slippery surfaces, dense fog, black ice and sudden blizzards just some of the hazards motorists may have to deal with between now and the spring thaw.

To ensure drivers are as well prepared as possible for the dangers ahead, Fiat Ireland has just announced a new, free, 10-point ‘Winter Health Check,’ which is available at every Fiat and Alfa Romeo dealership this winter.

The check focuses on areas that are particularly vulnerable during the winter months but which cannot be checked without specialist equipment. The coolant system, auxiliary drive belts, engine fluid levels and battery health are all examined; but basics such as lights, tyres, brakes, windscreen wipers and washers are also included in the check. If a technician finds that extra parts or fluids are needed, the customer will be contacted in advance to advise them of any additional costs involved.

In addition, the Winter Health Check will be automatically included if a car is brought to a Fiat or Alfa Romeo dealer for its routine service over the next few months.
