The first images of Toyota’s next generation Avensis touring car have been been revealed. The racing concept has been built by GPR Motorsport and will make its track debut at the final round of this year’s British Touring Car Championship (BTCC). Toyota has supplied GPR Motorsport with a donor car and bodyshell to build the new racing-focused Avensis, and other BTCC teams will be able to adopt from 2011 onwards. Unfortunately Toyota doesn’t have any plans to re-enter the BTCC series with a works team, but will support GPR Motorpsport in development of the new car. Double BTCC champion James Thompson will race the Avensis Next Generation Touring Car at Brands Hatch on 9 and 10 October.
